About the holiday home

A pleasant and well-maintained holiday home in an excellent location in Mellbystrand. Within walking distance is Sweden's longest swimming beach, shallow and child-friendly. The plot is spacious and partly protected from view next to a green area. A perfect choice for the small family.

From the entrance via the conservatory there is a small hall and in the left part of the cottage there is a bedroom with a bunk bed and a bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom has a shower. In the center of the house is an open, well-equipped kitchen with a dining area. The spacious living room has comfortable seating, TV (Allente) and a wood stove for the slightly chilly evenings. From here there is an exit to the patio at the back of the cottage.

From here you have a clear view of a green area. There is also a laundry room attached to the cottage. The glazed conservatory gives the cool summer evenings an extra pleasant feeling. The front of the plot is shaded by green trees and everything is enclosed with a fence and gate. Perfect for families with children. There is room for all the family's activities and there is access to both outdoor and indoor games (small soccer goal, block games, puzzles, games, etc.). There are also two adult bikes and two children's bikes etc. to borrow.

At a convenient distance is Mellbystrand with its beach hotel and its small shops and restaurants. In the northern part is Hökafältet, a valued nature reserve with several exercise loops and walking paths. To the south, the development turns into Skummeslövstrand's summer center with several restaurants, a shop and a bakery. Nearby there is a shopping center and in the area there are a large number of summer activities, e.g. tennis padel and mingolf. Just south of you reach the Bjäre Peninsula with all its picturesque summer villages and not least Båstad, the wonderful tennis metropolis. There are excellent cycling routes to the north and south.

To the north you can easily reach Halmstad with its fantastic beaches in Tylösand, its large range of entertainment and all the golf courses. Why not visit the small town of Laholm with its beautiful location by the Lagan. Lagan has a nice salmon fishery (fishing license required). For those interested in golf, there are many golf courses in the area. The nearest is Laholms Gk.

A true summer paradise! Halland offers lovely beaches, beautiful nature, charming towns and good shopping. Kungsbacka has a small town feel yet still offers a wide selection of shops and restaurants. There are many great deals to be found in the Freeport shopping centre in Kungsbacka. A journey through historic grandeur awaits at Tjolöholm, a castle built in Tudor style at the end of the 19th century.

Shallow sandy beaches

The area's fantastic shallow sandy beaches are the main attraction for many visitors during the summer period. The most popular beaches in Halland are Tylösand, Mellbystrand, Skreastrand and Apelviken.

Varberg, the pearl of Sweden's west coast, is a popular tourist destination in the area. Many Swedes visit Varberg for a holiday or a long weekend break. Varberg offers lovely beaches, an exciting historical fortress and a lively market around the small town square. Apelviken, the largest of the beaches, is one of Europe's best locations for windsurfing and kitesurfing, so put your board under your arm and enjoy the action!

In 2018, Falkenberg received the "Worth a Visit" award in White Guide! In other words, great food is yet one more reason to visit fantastic Falkenberg.

Falkenberg has no less than 15 km of sandy beaches, offering everything from the popular Skreastrand beach, with its activities and After Beach entertainment, to quiet inlets where bathers can enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere.

Not just a seaside location

There are more than 500 lakes and many nice rivers in Halland. In other words, canoeing is a popular attraction in the area. So why not paddle up the Nissan rIver or go fishing for salmon in the Ätran rIver, a popular salmon fishing location. If you feel like going on an exciting sea fishing trip, you can hop on board in Falkenberg harbour.

A number of cycling and hiking trails wind their way through Halland. One tip for an active family day out is to hike a couple of sections of the Hallandsleden trail, or to hop on your bikes and ride a stretch of the Cykelspåret cycling trail.

A visit to the Gekås superstore in Ullared, Sweden's most visited shopping centre, is an absolute must! On the way there or back you can also stop at the Ätran river, a popular salmon fishing spot.

Halmstad is a popular destination during the summer, although there is also plenty to do and see in the city during the winter, with a wide selection of stores, restaurants and bars. There are a number of nice beaches in the area, the most popular of which is probably Tylösand. "Wonderland" is a popular playground attraction for families with children.

Laholm is a charming little town close to the well-known coastal resorts of Mellbystrand and Skummeslövstrand. The Lagan river is the best recreational fishing location for salmon and trout fishing. On the Hallandsås horst you can enjoy walking in the lovely beech woods. In the winter, Laholm is Sweden's southernmost ski resort.

Sweden is water, water and water

Sweden has been admitted to UNESCO's list of world heritage for its unique coastline. Middle and north of Sweden have countless rivers, lakes and streams criss-crossing the country. Sometimes you get the feeling that the country is swimming with only forests and fields acting as links between rivers and lakes. This is particular noticeable for the middle part of Sweden where the ice age left plain tracks. Thousands of lakes fill the gorges created when the ice retracted to the North.

The Siljan lake is located in the middle part of Sweden called Dalarna. The lake and the surrounding towns are regarded as the historical centre of the country. For centuries, the rivers have been used for transporting logs to the coast. And where the rivers flow into the ocean is where the first settlements were founded several thousands of years ago. Midsummer in Sweden

The midsummer party in Sweden is truly unique. To many it is a symbol of the lightness, the light and the life force symbolic of the Nordic summer. Midsummer in Sweden is the biggest celebration of solstice in Scandinavia.

When the most Swedish of Swedish parties approach, the whole country is exited. Midsummer is traditionally a feast celebrated with family and friends, but if you are a tourist you are welcome to join the festivities. It is celebrated all over the country - by the coast, in the skerries, by idyllic lakes, in the mountains or one of the islands. All is good, as long as there is plenty of pristine and diverse nature around.

Before the holiday

Rental agreement and route description

Shortly after booking holiday accommodation through DanCenter you will receive your booking confirmation by post. This confirmation constitutes your rental agreement and contains all necessary information. On the first page you will find information the addresses of your holiday home and the key pick up place, as well as a route description. At the bottom of the page there is a detachable post card for ordering miscellaneous extras, which can be useful to have while on holiday. On the following pages you will find the invoice for the stay you have booked complete with transfer order/inpayment form, stating the due date.

On arrival at the key pick up point, you will be asked to present your rental agreement whereupon you will be handed your key. More often than not electricity, water and other charges are included in the rental amount. Where this is not the case you will also receive an electricity-envelope on which the meter readings of all consumption dependant expenses are to be noted upon arrival as well as departure.

Notice of arrival

If you wish to rent a boat or engine however, you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

Time of arrival Arrival can take place from 4 p.m. on the day the rental period commences. If you expect to arrive at a different time please arrange this with the contact person in advance. Contact information can be found on your rental agreement.

Extras

On the detachable post card at the bottom of the rental agreement, miscellaneous extras can be ordered - however only those stated in the description of your holiday home.

All holiday homes are equipped with all kitchen utensils necessary for the maximum amount of persons, which the house can room. Bed linen, dish cloths, table cloths etc. can in some places be rented.

On the post card you can also order the final cleaning, if this is mentioned in the description of your holiday home.

All extras must be ordered in conjunction with sending the notice of arrival no less than 14 days before commencement of the rental period. If you wish to rent a boat or engine however you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

What is a cleaning audit charge?

We charge customers a small cleaning audit fee to prepare the room for the next guest, even as some outgoing guests prefer to clean the room themselves. Are such guests still required to pay a cleaning charge? Yes. Please let us explain.

While we appreciate guests cleaning the room themselves, we nonetheless conduct an audit to ensure that the room is in excellent shape. The cleaning audit fee we levy is for the time and effort involved in checking that our cleaning standards have been met, so that we can provide our customers with the best experience.

Pets

If you have rented a holiday home in which pets are permitted please remember that it is a lengthy and quite difficult process to obtain all necessary permits for the import of pets to Sweden. Therefore please contact the Swedish Tourist Board or embassy well in advance.

Ferry connections and bridge crossings

If you have booked a holiday home in Sweden you can either go via Copenhagen across the Øresund Bridge or take a ferry. The bridge toll is 225,- Danish Kroner/crossing. If you choose to go by ferry please remember to order your tickets well in advance.
