About the holiday home

A warm welcome to Kolmården and this simple but cozy cottage a couple of hundred meters from Bråviken. The cabin is well suited for those of you who want to holiday in a slightly simpler environment but want to be close to beautiful nature and experiences.

The cottage is located in a cottage area with both summer houses and year-round accommodation. Lush garden with four buildings. The main cabin is about 45 square meters and has an entrance combined with a dining table area. Family room with two beds, small table and play table for children. 1950s kitchen with stove (two plates), small oven and fridge with freezer compartment. Bedroom with a bed (120) and a wardrobe that is private for the owner. Important to know that there is only cold water in the cabin. In the annex there is a bed and the possibility of an extra bed. No water drawn into the cabin. In the next building there is a private storage area and in the next door you have a smaller WC with only cold water. There is municipal water and sewage installed in the house. Behind the building with WC and storage you have an outdoor shower under the open sky. Here, however, you have hot and cold water, but due to transparency it is recommended to shower in swimwear. In the last building, there is also a storage room which is private, but you are welcome to sit under a roof and enjoy the view of the commons you have at the back of the plot. Adjacent to the main cabin, you have a patio deck that is partially covered and there you have sun from morning to afternoon.

For those who want a swim, you walk down the steep hill down to Bråviken, which is an extension of the Baltic Sea. Here you get a wonderful mix of sweet and salty! It is approx. 1 km to walk to the public jetty which has a table and bathing ladder. Belonging to the house there is a boat berth (no. 9) from which you are welcome to swim. Best suited for adults when bathing from rocks. No fishing license is required to fish here, so those interested can test their fishing luck! Diagonally opposite the cottage you will find a soccer field and a bowling alley. Nice walking paths along the water and up into the lush nature.

The main attraction in the vicinity is of course the Kolmården zoo, where both adults and children have lots of exciting animals to experience up close. From the cabin, it is about 1 km to walk to the park. So pack a lunch bag, good drink and have lovely days in the park with your loved ones!

The Kolmården Wildlife Park is situated north of Norrköping. Here you can meet animals from all over the world. Here the day passes by very easily with a lot of fantastic experiences for the entire family. The safari park offers a great adventure as you can sit in the cable car that goes over the safari park's exciting animals.

Linköping is the fifth biggest city in Sweden. It is lively and has a high pulse. It has a lot of bars, theatres and an impressing selection of restaurants for every taste and at any price level. Do you love to go shopping? If the answer is yes, the city is an Eldorado with a lot of shops and galleries. But it also has something to offer for those interested in cultural experiences – you might visit the old Linköping, the cathedral or the Air Force Museum. There are several beautiful castles, e.g. Ekenäs Castle which has the annually held rover tournament. Go exploring along the Göta Canal, which flows into the Roxen Lake, and along the Kinda canal down to the Kinda lakes which have beautiful surroundings with a lot of locks.

Reijmyre is situated in Norrköping municipality. The Reijmyre glassworks are some of the oldest in Sweden and were founded in 1810. It is beautifully located between Norrköping and Finspång in the middle of the deep Kolmård forest. The nearest archipelago is Arkösund, a small community by the sea, which is full of life in the summer, and here you will find many shops, pubs and hotels offering entertainment. Furthermore you will find the open air theatre, stalls with fine craft, yachting opportunities, ice-cream booths and magnificent bathing opportunities at Badholmarna.

Söderköping has beautiful surroundings, and it is especially a nice place in the summer. Enjoy the nice old town or go by bike along the canal. Climb the Ramunderberg and experience the town from above. Afterwards you can relax with one of the famous ice creams at Smultronstället, or you can try a Spanish lunch table at the restaurant La Uva which is located in the centre of the town square.

In the heart of Valdemarsvik you will find the popular marina. The Gryt and Tjust archipelagos with rocky as well as sandy beaches are very popular bathing beaches in the summer. Experience Astrid Lindgren’s adventurous world in Vimmerby in the northern part of Småland together with your children or grand children. It was here that the stories about Pippi Langstrømpe and Emil from Lønneberg were created.

Sweden is water, water and water

Sweden has been admitted to UNESCO's list of world heritage for its unique coastline. Middle and north of Sweden have countless rivers, lakes and streams criss-crossing the country. Sometimes you get the feeling that the country is swimming with only forests and fields acting as links between rivers and lakes. This is particular noticeable for the middle part of Sweden where the ice age left plain tracks. Thousands of lakes fill the gorges created when the ice retracted to the North.

The Siljan lake is located in the middle part of Sweden called Dalarna. The lake and the surrounding towns are regarded as the historical centre of the country. From here, Sweden gradually becomes more raw and deserted. In Norrland, the only sound you hear in the enormous forests is from the roaring rivers.

For centuries, the rivers have been used for transporting logs to the coast. And where the rivers flow into the ocean is where the first settlements were founded several thousands of years ago. Midsummer in Sweden

The midsummer party in Sweden is truly unique. To many it is a symbol of the lightness, the light and the life force symbolic of the Nordic summer. Midsummer in Sweden is the biggest celebration of solstice in Scandinavia.

When the most Swedish of Swedish parties approach, the whole country is exited. Midsummer is traditionally a feast celebrated with family and friends, but if you are a tourist you are welcome to join the festivities. It is celebrated all over the country - by the coast, in the skerries, by idyllic lakes, in the mountains or one of the islands. All is good, as long as there is plenty of pristine and diverse nature around.

Before the holiday

Rental agreement and route description

Shortly after booking holiday accommodation through DanCenter you will receive your booking confirmation by post. This confirmation constitutes your rental agreement and contains all necessary information. On the first page you will find information the addresses of your holiday home and the key pick up place, as well as a route description. At the bottom of the page there is a detachable post card for ordering miscellaneous extras, which can be useful to have while on holiday. On the following pages you will find the invoice for the stay you have booked complete with transfer order/inpayment form, stating the due date.

On arrival at the key pick up point, you will be asked to present your rental agreement whereupon you will be handed your key. More often than not electricity, water and other charges are included in the rental amount. Where this is not the case you will also receive an electricity-envelope on which the meter readings of all consumption dependant expenses are to be noted upon arrival as well as departure.

Notice of arrival

If you wish to rent a boat or engine however, you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

Time of arrival Arrival can take place from 4 p.m. on the day the rental period commences. If you expect to arrive at a different time please arrange this with the contact person in advance. Contact information can be found on your rental agreement.

Extras

On the detachable post card at the bottom of the rental agreement, miscellaneous extras can be ordered - however only those stated in the description of your holiday home.

All holiday homes are equipped with all kitchen utensils necessary for the maximum amount of persons, which the house can room. Bed linen, dish cloths, table cloths etc. can in some places be rented.

On the post card you can also order the final cleaning, if this is mentioned in the description of your holiday home.

All extras must be ordered in conjunction with sending the notice of arrival no less than 14 days before commencement of the rental period. If you wish to rent a boat or engine however you need to give notice no less than a month before arrival.

What is a cleaning audit charge?

We charge customers a small cleaning audit fee to prepare the room for the next guest, even as some outgoing guests prefer to clean the room themselves. Are such guests still required to pay a cleaning charge? Yes. Please let us explain.

While we appreciate guests cleaning the room themselves, we nonetheless conduct an audit to ensure that the room is in excellent shape. The cleaning audit fee we levy is for the time and effort involved in checking that our cleaning standards have been met, so that we can provide our customers with the best experience.

Pets

If you have rented a holiday home in which pets are permitted please remember that it is a lengthy and quite difficult process to obtain all necessary permits for the import of pets to Sweden. Therefore please contact the Swedish Tourist Board or embassy well in advance.

Ferry connections and bridge crossings

If you have booked a holiday home in Sweden you can either go via Copenhagen across the Øresund Bridge or take a ferry. The bridge toll is 225,- Danish Kroner/crossing. If you choose to go by ferry please remember to order your tickets well in advance.
